Frequently Asked Questions
Question: What religious faith are you? Answer: Hebrew Pentecostal. Question: What is Hebrew Pentecostalism? Answer: The term Hebrew Pentecostal recognizes the existence of the bond between Judaism and Christianity, both having the Hebrew or Jewish Scriptures (Tanakh) as their foundation; what Christians commonly refer to as the Old Testament. The primary difference between Hebrew Pentecostalism and Judaism is that Hebrew Pentecostals accept and acknowledge that Jesus is the Messiah. The primary differences between Hebrew Pentecostals and mainstream Pentecostals is Hebrew Pentecostals keep the biblical Sabbath (Saturday) as the day of veneration rather than the Christian Sabbath (Sunday). Hebrew Pentecostals also eat according to the biblical diet of Leviticus 11th Chapter and celebrate the biblical festivals of Leviticus 23rd Chapter in lieu of the Christian celebrations of Easter, Christmas etc. What can I Expect When I Visit a House of God Church? In most House of God churches, worship is accompanied by the singing of contemporary praise and worship songs and hymns. They begin by praising God through song and prayer. Next there's a responsive reading (liturgy), followed by a testimonial service and/or a choir singing two to three contemporary gospel songs. Service concludes with about a 30 to 40 minute sermon. Our form of worship is Spirit-filled. We believe in expressions of worship that are biblically based. WE PRAY TOGETHER ALOUD WE LIFT OUR HANDS IN PRAISE WE SING WITH ALL OUR HEARTS WE PLAY MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS WE DANCE BEFORE THE LORD WE TESTIFY PUBLICLY WE ANOINT WITH OIL FOR DIVINE HEALING Well when it comes to the people of the House of God you'll find old and young. There'll be happy people and not so happy people. You will meet friendly people and not so friendly people. There'll be a bunch of loving people and a few not so loving. So expect a diverse group of people striving to be all that God would have them to be. Question: What is the role of women in The House of God? Answer: The House of God believes in the biblical equality of men and women. Therefore, no distinction is made as to which offices, ministries, or functions are open to men and women. This is a position that the House of God has held since its inception (1914). Question: How do I become a House of God church? Answer: While the process may vary depending on circumstances, a church who desires to join our brotherhood of churches will generally take the following steps: a.) Learn about the House of God. Discover all you can about our beliefs and practices through written materials, fellowship with a local assembly, and attend our state, district and/or national conferences. The idea is for the prospective church to get to know the spiritual move of God within the House of God thus bringing clarity to whether your desire is to walk among us as brethren. b.) Pray! Prayerfully consider whether God is leading you to partner with us. Ask God to help you as you explore The House of God and evaluate your theological compatibility with us. c.) Contact a state or district superintendent and inform them of your interest. |
